Computer Tune-Up

A computer, no matter if it’s a laptop, notebook, desktop or server, they all need general maintenance just like your car. Failing to do so will make your computer very slow, unresponsive at times, and crash by either freezing or giving you the blue screen of death (BSOD). By doing a tune-up, the performance of your machine will be restored and make your computer fast, assuming that your computer was fast when you first purchased it.

Sometimes it’s not the operating system that is the issue but the hardware that makes up your system. In that case, a computer diagnostics program can be run to determine if you have failed or failing hardware.

  • Run check disk on your hard drives
  • Clean up your system of cookies, temporary files, log files
  • Disable unneeded startup programs and services
  • Optimize your registry, page file, and master file table (MFT)
  • Ensure your anti-virus / anti-spyware programs are up-to-date
  • Run a scan for rootkits
  • Check for corrupt operating system files
  • Check Event Viewer to identify and fix potential issues
